Chaos erupted following a gas explosion at 2nd Junction, Governor’s Road, Council Bus Stop in Ikotun, Lagos State which razed 7 shops.
Margaret Adeseye, Director at the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, revealed that the incident was triggered by a gas cylinder leakage, followed by an explosion within one of the shops.
The aftermath saw the fire rapidly spreading to seven neighboring shops, prompting an emergency response from multiple agencies.

Adeseye emphasized the preliminary findings: “Preliminary investigations point to negligence during the refilling of a gas cylinder as the probable cause of the incident.”
Despite the intensity of the blaze, there are no reported casualties. The statement from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service underscores the absence of loss of life in this incident.
