In a devastating incident early this Sunday, eight members of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) band lost their lives in a fatal accident along the Kano/Zaria road.

According to reports, the band personnel were returning from Kano after performing at the Presidential Commissioning and Passing Out Parade of the 48th Superintendent Basic Course 2023 at the Immigration Training School.

The tragic incident occurred as the 12-passenger Toyota bus transporting the band officers from the Headquarters, was en route back to Abuja.

A video seeking confirmation of the accident, initially posted on the NIS Media platform in Abuja, was later deleted by the Service Public Relations Officer, Dr Dotun Aridegbe, who somberly stated, “We are in a very pensive mood” at this time.

Amidst the grief, it has been reported that at least eight bodies of the victims were found near the badly damaged immigration vehicle.

However, unconfirmed reports suggest that all band members may have lost their lives in the tragic accident.

Details are expected to emerge shortly as investigations into the accident continue.
