Authorities in a Tennessee community are investigating an alarming incident that occurred on Easter Sunday, as a trailer filled with Bibles was intentionally set on fire in front of a church.
The Mount Juliet Police Department and Fire Department responded swiftly to the trailer fire, which was located in an intersection blocking the entrance of the Global Vision Church around 6 a.m. on Sunday. Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
According to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, the fire is believed to have been set intentionally, though it remains unclear whether the church was specifically targeted.
“To uphold the integrity of the ongoing investigation, other specific details cannot be provided at this time. However, we assure the community that further updates will be shared at the appropriate juncture,” the sheriff’s office stated.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the church’s pastor, Greg Locke, revealed that security cameras captured footage of a man dropping off the trailer before igniting it.
Despite the shocking event, the church was able to proceed with its Easter services without interruption.
“There was a lady that had driven through the night to get to our church, and she was in the parking lot and was able to get the police officers here quickly, but it was quite the scene to wake up to on my first morning back from Israel,” Pastor Locke stated.
The community rallied behind the church, expressing support and solidarity on social media platforms. Many voiced their relief that no harm came to individuals or the church itself, while others called for prayers for both the perpetrator and the church community.
