Tribunal Orders Multichoice to Give Nigerians One Month Free DSTV, GOTV Subscription

A three-member panel of the Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal has mandated Multichoice Nigeria to provide subscribers on the DStv and GOtv platforms with one month of free service.

The tribunal also imposed a N150 million fine on Multichoice for contesting the court’s jurisdiction, which had recently prohibited the company from raising prices for its DStv and GOtv packages.

The ruling, issued by the panel led by Justice Thomas Okosu, came on Friday in Abuja. In May, Multichoice Nigeria had increased subscription rates for its DStv and GOtv packages despite the tribunal’s orders.
