Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji have rescued four students of the Federal University, Gusau, who were abducted by bandits on Saturday, October 14.
The victims were taken from their off-campus residence in Sabon Gida, under the Damba area of Gusau LGA in Zamfara in the late hour of Saturday.
Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the Force Information Officer for Operation Hadarin Daji, reported that swift action was taken by the troops in response to a distress call about the kidnapped students.
The troops, Parallel Facts gathered, mobilised and established a blocking position along a possible withdrawal route, leading to a fierce gun battle with the terrorists.
Due to the superior strength of the troops, the terrorists abandoned their victims and fled.
During the encounter, two of the students managed to escape, while the other two — a male and a female — were safely rescued by the troops at around 12 midnight.
