Former President Donald Trump announced his intent to push for the death penalty for child rapists and traffickers during a speech at the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department in Howell, Michigan, on Tuesday.
Trump, who is seeking the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election, outlined a series of tough-on-crime proposals, including making it a felony for medical professionals to perform transgender surgeries on minors without parental consent.
In his remarks, Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for what he described as “anti-police” policies.
The former president also advocated for a return to “stop and frisk” policing, a controversial practice that has faced significant scrutiny in recent years.
Trump, 78, emphasized the need to protect children, stating, “I am announcing today that I will be asking for the death penalty for child rapists and child traffickers.”
He also addressed concerns about medical procedures on minors, adding, “To protect our children from sexual mutilation, we will make it a felony for any medical professional to perform surgery on a minor without parental consent.”
