Immigration was a key issue during the election campaign. Trump pledged to deport millions of people and secure the U.S.-Mexico border, citing a surge in illegal crossings during President Joe Biden’s administration.
Posting on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump shared a post by a conservative activist stating that he is “prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden-era migration crisis through a mass deportation program.”

He has begun assembling a cabinet dominated by immigration hardliners, including appointing former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) acting chief Tom Homan as his “border czar.”

He repeatedly pledged to invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to expedite deportations, though he has yet to provide specifics on his immigration crackdown.
