President of the United States, Donald Trump, has urged Iran and Israel to pursue peace following Tehran’s missile strike on a U.S. military base in Qatar.
Trump made the appeal via a post on his Truth Social account, suggesting that the U.S. would not retaliate and expressing his intention to encourage Israel, which carried out airstrikes on Iran earlier on Monday, to embrace peace.
Iran had reportedly fired 14 ballistic missiles at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar in response to U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend. The U.S. president described the missile launch as a weak response, noting that no American lives were lost and that there was minimal damage.
In his Truth Social post, Trump stated: “Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered.”
He added: “I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done.
“Most importantly, they’ve gotten it all out of their ‘system,’ and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE.
“I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured. Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same.”
In a follow-up message, Trump wrote: “CONGRATULATIONS WORLD, IT’S TIME FOR PEACE!”
Prior to the attack, Iranian officials had reportedly informed both Qatar and the United States about their intention to strike the Al Udeid base. This move was believed to be aimed at limiting casualties and avoiding further escalation.
At the time of the missile strike, Trump was monitoring events from the White House situation room.
Iran referred to the operation as “Promise of Victory” and issued threats to target additional U.S. bases, signaling defiance and strength to its domestic audience.
However, a senior Iranian official later told Reuters that Tehran was now prepared to “begin diplomacy” after “punishing the aggressor.”
