Time for Nigerians to Engage Donald Trump in Ensuring Release of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 1992 Drug Trafficking Full Report is Now

“We will show no mercy on the drug cartels, they will never sleep soundly again,” Trump.

Opportunity, they say, comes but once. With a crucial moment now at Nigeria’s doorstep, it’s time for Nigerians to take this rare moment to hold leaders accountable for their past misdeeds.

As unprecedented hardship and insecurity continue to plague the nation, Nigerians must turn to the past and demand transparency from those in power. Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s alleged ties to drug trafficking from decades ago, a past that seems to have been buried in public memory, deserve full exposure.

Recall that in 1993, Bola Ahmed Tinubu surrendered $460,000 to the U.S. government after a Chicago court found the income came from heroin trafficking. While the FBI released a report, it was heavily redacted. Now is the time to engage President-elect Donald Trump to ensure the full, unredacted report is released, shedding light on any dark corners and demanding accountability once and for all.

Now, President-elect Donald Trump has pledged a relentless crackdown on drug cartels, vowing to take unprecedented measures. His plan includes not only deploying military forces to block cartel activities in American waters but also introducing the death penalty for major traffickers and seizing cartel assets to compensate victims of drug crimes.

Trump’s strong stance has sparked calls from prominent voices, including Nigerian journalist David Hundeyin, urging Nigerians to use this moment to scrutinize leaders with controversial pasts, like Tinubu, who may have benefited from U.S. backing under the Democratic party.

Trump declared, “We will show no mercy on the cartels,” emphasizing his intent to prevent cartel operations at sea, which he claims are poisoning America “from within.”

He partially stated, “Our country is being poisoned from within by the drugs and by all of the other crime that’s taking place. The drug cartels are waging war in America, and it’s now time for America to wage war on the cartels.

Trump criticised President Joe Biden, accusing his administration of allowing the cartels to flourish unchecked.

“In this war, Joe Biden has sided against the United States and with the cartels. They are making more money than they’ve ever made before, times 10. There’s never been anything like it. They’re major, major companies.

“Finally, as I have said before, I will ask Congress to pass legislation ensuring that drug smugglers and human traffickers receive the death penalty. The drug cartels and their allies in the Biden administration have the blood of countless millions on their hands,” Trump added.

At a rally in Mar-a-Lago, Trump also proposed seizing the assets of criminal gangs and drug cartels to create a compensation fund for victims of migrant crime.

“Today, I’m announcing that for the first time, under my administration, we will be seizing the assets of the criminal gangs and drug cartels, and we will use those assets to create a compensation fund to provide restitution for the victims of migrant crime,” the former president stressed.

Responding to Trump’s bold stance, Nigerian journalist David Hundeyin urged Nigerians to use this moment to hold their own leaders accountable, including Bola Tinubu, whose political rise has been clouded by allegations of a drug-trafficking past. Hundeyin hinted that Trump’s potential presidency, driven by a mix of personal motives and a disregard for U.S. establishment norms, might unsettle the power networks that have historically shielded leaders with questionable backgrounds.

“If you’re in Nigeria, Kenya, or any other African country led by a Biden/Harris-installed puppet, this result gives you a 2 to 4-year window to do whatever is in your power to get that puppet out of there and rescue your country from the US economic hitman,” said Hundeyin, urging citizens to act decisively.

As Trump’s anti-cartel agenda could reshape U.S. foreign policy, Hundeyin’s message serves as a call to action for Nigerians, urging everyone to confront issues and examine our leaders’ affiliations.
