Donald Trump Jr. reported on X that local law enforcement found an AK-47 automatic weapon hidden in bushes and that a suspect has been taken into custody. Reuters could not immediately verify this information.

Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung did not respond right away to requests for comment.

This incident follows an assassination attempt on the former president in Pennsylvania on July 13, ahead of what is expected to be a highly contested election on November 5, where he is likely to face Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.
