Hit the Ground Running: Trump Secures $3 Trillion in Investments on First Day in Office, Projects $7 Trillion by Week’s End

Just hours after announcing what he described as the largest AI infrastructure initiative in U.S. history, President Donald Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight another remarkable achievement.

The United States has already secured nearly $3 trillion in new investments, with forecasts indicating the total could reach $6 to $7 trillion by week’s end.

“In total, before the end of my first full business day in Washington and the White House, we’ve already secured nearly $3 trillion of new investments in the United States. And probably, that’s going to be six or seven by the end of the week,” Trump said in his announcement.

This wave of investment builds on previous commitments, including the $200 billion investment pledge by SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son back in December.

At the core of this monumental initiative lies the Stargate Project, a revolutionary artificial intelligence (AI) company formed through a partnership between OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle, and MGX.

Unveiled during a White House press conference on January 21, 2025, the project’s announcement featured prominent figures like OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, and SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son.

The Stargate Project’s mission is to transform AI infrastructure within the United States.

The scale of the initiative is staggering: an initial $100 billion investment will be scaled to $500 billion by 2029.

Masayoshi Son has been appointed chairman, with SoftBank taking on the “financial responsibility” and OpenAI overseeing “operational responsibility.”

The project’s immediate focus includes constructing ten cutting-edge data centers in Texas, with plans for nationwide expansion.

Executive orders are expected to fast-track development, with projections of creating over 100,000 new jobs in the U.S.

A powerhouse coalition of technology partners, including Microsoft, Nvidia, Oracle, and Arm, backs the project, highlighting a unified approach to establishing a robust AI ecosystem.

This initiative builds on a 2024 collaboration between OpenAI and Microsoft to develop an AI supercomputer under the same name.

Now bolstered by the resources and expertise of industry giants and unprecedented funding, the Stargate Project is set to accelerate AI innovation on a scale never seen before.

The launch of the Stargate Project, coupled with a broader $3 trillion influx in AI investments, positions the United States as a global leader in AI development and infrastructure.

While the administration’s ambitious $6–$7 trillion investment target remains to be realized, the Stargate Project has undeniably laid the foundation for a transformative era in technology and innovation.

Promising significant economic and technological advancements, this initiative marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of artificial intelligence, setting the stage for unprecedented growth and progress.
