Trump Won’t Be Loved, Will Face Resistance from Allies, Foes – Shehu Sani Says Africa Should Not Expect Much

Former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has described United States President Donald Trump as a ‘disruptor’ who will face significant challenges during his presidency.

Sani, in a post on his X handle following Trump’s inauguration, predicted that the new president would be feared rather than loved, and would encounter resistance from both allies and adversaries alike.

He suggested that the new president, a businessman and American nationalist, would seek to alter the structure of international relations, including pulling or altering the roles of the United Nations, the European Union, and NATO.

In his post, Sani also stated that Africa should not expect much from Trump’s presidency, drawing a comparison to the limited impact of Joe Biden’s administration.

He stated, “Mr. Trump takes over the American presidency today. A disruptor takes power. It’s going to be a great challenge to the world.

“It’s going to be an American nationalist and businessman vs. the world. He will pull the plug or change the plugs at the UN, EU, NATO, and the American relations with the world.

“He will be feared and not loved and will ultimately face resistance from both allies and foes. He will try to reset everything, and that is where the discomfort will come.

“Africa should not expect anything much from Trump, even though Biden didn’t do much either. Trump is back and, sadly, without Mugabe. The world must not give up or compromise its universal human values,” he added.
