The Trade Union Congress (TUC) issued a stern warning to the federal government on Tuesday, urging immediate action to fulfill the N35,000 wage award agreed upon during a meeting held after the removal of the fuel subsidy.
During a press briefing in Abuja following an emergency National Executive Council meeting, TUC President Festus Osifo conveyed the Congress’s concern, revealing that, according to reliable information, federal civil servants had only received the wages for September, and a meager number had been paid for the second time.
Osifo emphasized the imperative for the federal government to promptly disburse the agreed-upon wage to all federal civil servants to avert potential unrest.

Expressing the Congress’s dissatisfaction, Osifo called for accountability from government officials, asserting that it is unacceptable for them to live in affluence while urging citizens to tighten their belts.
The TUC’s stance underscores the pressing need for responsive measures to mitigate the impact of the subsidy removal on workers and prevent further discontent. Further details on the situation are expected to be provided in subsequent updates.
