Turkey Stands with Egypt, Opposes Palestinian Exile From Gaza Strip

Turkey has declared its support for Egypt in opposing the expulsion of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. Hakan Fidan, the Turkish foreign minister, made the declaration while speaking with his Egyptian counterpart in Cairo.

On his first visit to Egypt as a minister, Fidan emphasised the necessity of international action to stop the crisis from worsening and to relaunch peace negotiations aimed at establishing a two-state solution for Israelis and Palestinians.

“We reject the policy of Palestinians being removed from their homes in Gaza and exiled into Egypt. We are fully against it and stand with Egypt,” Fidan declared. He also called on Israel to respect international law and humanitarian principles and criticised some states for using them to defend Israel’s operations in Gaza.

Turkey’s attitude comes in the midst of an ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. Israel has called for Gazans to leave, which Turkey has denounced as inhumane and against international law. Although Turkey has long maintained links with Hamas, it has also made an effort to mend fences with Israel after years of hostility.

The announcement from Turkey is a significant change in the geopolitics of the area, demonstrating the nation’s support for Palestinian rights and its readiness to cooperate with Egypt to bring about peace.
