Two Arrested For Alleged N5.8m Theft In Jigawa

Jigawa Police Command has apprehended two individuals, 20-year-old Usman Yusuf and Ibrahim Aliyu, for allegedly stealing N5.85 million from a Point of Sale (POS) shop in Gwaram Local Government Area of the State.

Confirming the incident in Jigawa, Police spokesman DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam issued a statement to newsmen, revealing that the suspects had criminally conspired to trespass into a POS shop, making off with the substantial sum of five million, eight hundred and fifty thousand naira (N5,850,000:00).

According to the statement, the police received a report on 09/11/2023, indicating that at approximately 1945 hours, a group of miscreants carried out the burglary.

Acting swiftly upon the report, a police team successfully apprehended the suspects.

During interrogation, the arrested individuals, Usman Yusuf and Ibrahim Aliyu, confessed to the crime and implicated two others who are currently at large as their accomplices.

DSP Shiisu disclosed that the police recovered three million, six hundred and seventeen thousand five hundred naira (N3,617,500:00) from the suspects.

The Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse for a thorough investigation.

The suspects are slated to face legal proceedings, with the Commissioner of Police emphasising that they will be arraigned in court to answer for their actions and face the full wrath of the law. #Jigawa
