The U.S. government has initiated legal action against eBay, a major global online marketplace, due to the sale of various harmful products on its platform, constituting violations of federal environmental regulations
The lawsuit was lodged in the federal court in Brooklyn, New York.
These include aftermarket products designed to help vehicles perform better by evading federal emissions controls.

The sale of methylene chloride-containing products for paint and coating removal, and the sale of pesticides that were misbranded or restricted, were also highlighted in the lawsuit.
The Justice Department stated that some of these products cause vehicles to emit “massive amounts of air pollution”. Others pose an imminent, or potentially lethal, danger to people.
They claimed that “eBay has the power, the authority, and the resources to stop the sale of these illegal, harmful products on its website,” but has chosen not to.
