The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, has expressed the United Kingdom’s approval of the security strategies implemented by Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the last one year.
Speaking at a High-level Dialogue on Delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda on the theme, “Nigeria’s Global Ambitions: From Hope to Reality,” in Abuja on Friday, Montgomery highlighted the UK’s recognition of the transparency and accountability in governance under Tinubu’s administration.
Montgomery stated, “I’d like to use this opportunity to express the whole lot of support of my government to the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu.
“We commend his agenda for its focus on priorities and delivery. We acknowledge that you have done a lot to put in place transparency and accountability,” he added.
Kashim Shettima, also present at the event, emphasized the transformative nature of the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a policy thrust aimed at repositioning Nigeria as a leading global investment destination.
He pointed out the agenda’s foundation on the pillars of democracy, development, demographics, and diaspora engagement.
Shettima noted the administration’s ambitious roadmap, which includes bold reforms and strategic partnerships to revitalize the economy and enhance security. He affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and properties through various regional and national interventions.
Shettima articulated, “Our reason for this gathering is less about the certainty of our vision for this nation. This has never been in doubt. We are here because of our place in a world of opportunities—a world that can’t afford to neglect or underestimate our place.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a policy framework; it is a statement of commitment, a covenant between us and the people.”
