Until There’s Reform in INEC, Nigerians Are Not Going to Have Better Elections in 2027—Oseni Rufai

Renowned journalist and broadcaster Oseni Rufai has stated that Nigerians won’t experience a better election in 2027 if there’s no reform in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Rufai made this known in a statement he shared on his official X handle.

He wrote,”Until we reform INEC we are not going to have better elections in 2027.”

Reacting to his statement, netizens have shared their thoughts and opinions regarding Rufai’s comment.

“You can reform INEC, but election riggers and political criminals will gladly tell you to “go to court”. Fix the judiciary and see all these crazy shenanigans disappear,” Aku wrote.

“The current government’s strategy to stifle opposition parties, means there’s little or no advocate for electoral reform and the INEC,” Son of Nelson tweeted.

Another X user,David king king wrote,”Who want reform am, inec is not the problem, the people mindset is the problem, 90% of inec staffs are youths, the control rooms are managed by youths. Nigerians needs to be reformed firstly.”

“There is no incentive for good governance where the governing class knows that it cannot be sanctioned by the citizens through credible and transparent elections,”Olufemi Oguntokun added.
