A private jet with the registration number 5N-AMM, conveying the Minister of Power, Abdul Waheed Adebayo Adelabu, and his entourage, has experienced a crash landing in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Parallel Facts earlier reported the incident unfolded on a Friday evening, and fortunately, all three cabin crew members and seven passengers aboard the aircraft were successfully rescued from the damaged plane.
In new development, a preliminary report obtained by SaharaReporters on Saturday, revealed that the aircraft remained in the vicinity of runway 22.
“At approximately 08:25 on November 3, 2023, the aircraft, identified by registration number 5N-AMM, carrying the incumbent Minister of Power, Abdul Waheed Adebayo Adelabu, and his entourage, experienced a crash landing alongside runway 22, veering off the runway into a nearby bush.
“The control tower promptly reported a loss of communication with the private jet immediately after landing and subsequently alerted the Airport Rescue and Fire-Fighting Service (ARFFS), the Aviation Security (AVSEC) team, and other necessary airport officials, who swiftly arrived at the scene.
“All three cabin crew members and the seven passengers were safely rescued from the damaged aircraft. Despite efforts to obtain details from the pilot proving unsuccessful, the NAF (Nigerian Air Force) airport commandant and his team were present at the scene.
“As of the time of filing this report, the aircraft remained situated in the vicinity of runway 22. The security personnel from AVSEC, ARFFS, Airport Safety team, and the NAF team were on standby for support and coverage,” the report stated.
Following a brief emergency meeting with the Heads of Departments (HODs) present at the scene, officials confirmed that there were no casualties.
The runway lighting system was operational at the time of the aircraft’s arrival, and there was no loss of life. The cause of the incident could not be ascertained as of the time this report was filed, and further investigations are pending.
