The US military announced on Sunday that it had killed a senior official of an al-Qaeda affiliate in an airstrike in northwest Syria.
In a statement, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) described the individual as a high-ranking finance and logistics official within the terrorist organization Hurras al-Din.
However, the statement did not disclose the target’s identity.

CENTCOM emphasized that the strike aimed to disrupt and weaken the group’s ability to plan, coordinate, and execute attacks against civilians and military personnel from the U.S. and its allies.
This operation follows a similar strike on January 30, when CENTCOM eliminated Muhammad Salah al-Zabir, another senior Hurras al-Din operative.

Hurras al-Din was designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. in 2019, with financial rewards offered for information on several of its key members.
“We will continue to relentlessly pursue terrorists in order to defend our homeland, and US, allied, and partner personnel in the region,” the statement said.
