Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has called for an investigation into the operations of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Nigeria following allegations that it may have been used to fund Boko Haram terrorists.
Ndume made the statement while speaking on Arise News on Wednesday, reacting to claims by U.S. Congressman Scott Perry that USAID serves as a conduit for terrorist financing in Nigeria.
The senator described Perry’s allegations as serious, aligning them with previous warnings from Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, who had stated that international organizations were funding and training Boko Haram militants in conflict areas.

Ndume emphasised that the U.S. government’s decision to halt humanitarian funding in Nigeria presents an opportunity for the country to investigate foreign organizations operating under the guise of aid.
Ndume stated, “They come under the pretense of helping when you are in dire need so you don’t have the right to question any suspicions. Stopping their funding is our opportunity to investigate.
“Security agencies or the federal government do not have the backing or right to question the activities of international organisations,” he added.
