“There Is Nothing Good to Point At That Buhari Did for Nigeria” – Nigerians Rip Into Late President’s Legacy in Ongoing Vawulence Space Hosted by EmirSirdam

Nigerians are heavily criticizing the legacy of late President Muhammadu Buhari during a live discussion on X (formerly Twitter), hosted by EmirSirdam in his popular “Vawulence Space.”

Titled “#VawulenceSpace:SOTN;Buhari’s Legacy|PO Birthday Plans|10 Years Of APC:SOTN;Buhari’s Legacy|PO Birthday Plans|10 Years Of APC”, the Space quickly trended nationwide as citizens unleashed unfiltered criticism of the former president’s eight-year tenure, accusing him of leaving behind a broken country.

The host @emirsirdam, known for moderating no-holds-barred political conversations, allowed speakers from different backgrounds to weigh in. The dominant consensus remained: Buhari’s government failed to deliver on its promises and worsened the nation’s condition.

“There is nothing to point at that Buhari did for Nigeria,” Nigerians declared, sparking a cascade of similar remarks from others across the country and diaspora.

Speaker after speaker alleged that Buhari collapsed the economy, crippling the naira, and enforcing what many called “anti-people policies” that deepened poverty and widened inequality.

Participants pointed to runaway inflation, worsening insecurity, mass youth unemployment, and debt accumulation as enduring hallmarks of his rule. Some also criticised the ex-president’s policies, currency redesign saga, and border closure moves, calling them poorly planned and harmful to ordinary Nigerians.

Buhari was also condemned for what many called selective anti-corruption, as numerous corruption cases under his watch ended without convictions. Others recalled the Twitter ban, crackdowns on protesters during the #EndSARS movement, and a general culture of repression.

Though Buhari exited office in May 2023 after serving two full terms, the anger on display shows that for many Nigerians, his presidency remains a cautionary tale — one that still sparks vawulence nearly two years later.
