Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, a well-known social critic and vlogger, has been remanded in police custody following a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja.

VeryDarkMan was arraigned on five counts related to cyberstalking. The court, presided over by Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon, adjourned the case to next Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

The Nigeria Police Force opposed his bail application, stating they required additional time to respond to the application, a request which the court granted.

While the police prosecution sought to have VeryDarkMan remanded in prison custody, his lawyers successfully argued for him to be kept in detention instead. Consequently, he was taken to the National Cybercrime Centre.

However, one of his count is that he posted a video on March 19, 2024, alleging that senior police officers and lawmakers were involved in sexual activities with Bobrisky, intending to cause annoyance, inconvenience, and other harm, in violation of Section 24 (1)(b) of the Cybercrime

Recently, VeryDarkMan had publicly criticized the Nigerian police for their inaction regarding the controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

VeryDarkMan condemned the award of Best Dressed Female given to Bobrisky at a Nollywood event.

Notably, the Nigerian police had responded by stating that there was no law against cross-dressing in the country and no evidence of Bobrisky engaging in same-sex relations, thus justifying their decision not to arrest him.
