Controversial online activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has lambasted Nigerian music superstars Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid for flaunting their extravagant wealth while millions of Nigerians grapple with worsening poverty and unemployment.
In a viral video posted on the X (formerly Twitter) page of influencer One Jobless Boy, VeryDarkMan criticised the trio for recently acquiring luxury cars worth billions of naira, questioning their moral responsibility as public figures.
He referenced Burna Boy’s newly acquired car worth $2.2 million (approximately ₦3.3 billion) and Davido’s own ₦1.2 billion vehicle purchase.

Speaking directly, VeryDarkMan asked the artistes: “What have you done for your people?” He challenged Davido to show his impact in Osun State, especially after rallying support there during his uncle’s gubernatorial campaign.
He accused Burna Boy, once a vocal critic of government oppression, of abandoning his activism for luxury, and questioned what Wizkid has tangibly done for the people of Surulere, his place of origin. “All you people do is to show wealth because you know Nigerians worship money,” he said.
He slammed the annual trend of “competition of wealth” among the artists, where each seemingly tries to outshine the other with billion-naira cars and extravagant displays.

“You already have cars. Why buy another one just to rub it in people’s faces?” he said, calling the practice insensitive in a country where graduates are unemployed and citizens struggle to afford basic needs.
VeryDarkMan also addressed the celebrities’ charitable gestures, particularly Davido’s frequent donations to orphanages, arguing that while commendable, such acts do not amount to long-term empowerment.
“What structure have you put in place that benefits 3,000 or 5,000 youths?” he asked. He maintained that empowering the youth through tangible, sustainable programs would offer real solutions rather than occasional handouts.
The video has ignited widespread debate online, with many Nigerians echoing VeryDarkMan’s sentiments about misplaced priorities among celebrities.
As the nation faces mounting hardship, the video serves as a wake-up call about the disconnect between Nigeria’s elite entertainers and the everyday struggles of their fans. “Peace and love,” he ended, “but if you play, you go learn.”
