Victor Osimhen to Man United Transfer ‘Agreement’ as £86m Price Tag for Striker Revealed

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Manchester United ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to Turkish journalist Serdar Çelikler.

“Victor Osimhen has reached an agreement with Manchester United. But the club-to-club negotiations are still pending,” Çelikler revealed during a recent podcast.

Currently on loan at Galatasaray, the Nigerian forward has been in exceptional form, racking up 29 goals and six assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.

His impressive performances have drawn significant interest from Europe’s elite, with United emerging as frontrunners.

Manchester United are said to be prioritizing a marquee striker this summer as Rasmus Hojlund continues to struggle, managing just three Premier League goals all season. New head coach Ruben Amorim reportedly wants to move the underperforming Dane on, making way for a new attacking talisman.

While Osimhen is believed to have agreed to personal terms, discussions between United and Napoli over a transfer fee are ongoing. The 25-year-old has a €75 million (£63m) release clause, but reports suggest Napoli may be willing to offer the 20-time English champions a discount to facilitate the move.

Juventus have long held interest in Osimhen, but Napoli are reportedly unwilling to sell to a domestic rival—boosting United’s chances of securing the striker’s signature.

However, a key factor in Osimhen’s decision could be European football. The Nigerian international is said to favor clubs playing in the UEFA Champions League, meaning United’s fate in the Europa League could be decisive.

As a contingency, the Red Devils are also keeping tabs on alternatives like Liam Delap and Jean-Philippe Mateta. Meanwhile, Turkish journalist Ali Naci Küçük previously revealed that United have offered Osimhen a pre-tax salary of £660,000 per week, which would make him the highest-paid player at Old Trafford.

“There is a high possibility that Osimhen will say goodbye (to Galatasaray), but there is no decision made at the moment,” Küçük said. “Juventus and Manchester United clearly want Osimhen. Juventus and Manchester’s offer is a net €20m (£660,000-a-week).”

Galatasaray, where Osimhen is currently on loan, are keen to keep him beyond this season. However, meeting his reported €15 million wage demands is likely beyond the club’s financial reach.

“Osimhen’s words do not mean that he will leave,” Galatasaray’s vice-president Ibrahim Hatipoglu said recently. “He said that Galatasaray will always be in his heart even if he leaves in the worst-case scenario, but he did not say that he would leave. We want him to stay with us.”

When asked about his future last week, Osimhen kept things vague, saying, “There are always rumours about me, of course. But I prefer to live in the moment. I’m enjoying myself right now—both with the club and in my life here.”

The Nigerian striker, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has enjoyed a stellar season in Turkey.

The Istanbul side is covering €6 million of his €10–11 million net annual salary, with Napoli paying the rest.
