Despite the worsening hardship, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu led federal government has called on Nigerians to support its policies and programmes, emphasizing that citizen cooperation is crucial for the success of the current administration.
This appeal was made during a town hall meeting held on Thursday in Jos, Plateau State, organized by the office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement in the North-Central region.
Abiodun Essiet, the SSA to Tinubu, highlighted the importance of the event in fostering dialogue between the government and the citizens, particularly at the grassroots level.
She noted that the town hall aimed to bridge the existing gaps between the government and the people by informing them about the administration’s policies and upcoming initiatives.
Essiet stated, ”This town hall underscores Tinubu’s commitment to involving citizens in decision-making, creating room for dialogue and fostering inclusivity and community engagement.
”This will breach existing gaps between the government and the people, particularly those at the grassroots.
”Government can’t do it alone. We need your support and cooperation to succeed,” she added.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, represented by his deputy, Josephine Piyo, declared the event open and lauded the federal government for its efforts to engage with the public.
The governor expressed optimism that such initiatives would enhance citizens’ participation in governance. He also urged the federal government to implement policies that address the ongoing economic challenges faced by Nigerians.
Governor Mutfwang called on Plateau residents to support the federal government in its mission to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
