Governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed their full support for their colleague, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, following Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a State of Emergency in the state.
The PDP Governors’ Forum made this known on Monday, April 14, in Ibadan, Oyo State, after holding their fourth meeting for the year 2025.
In a statement released after the meeting, the governors reaffirmed their commitment to defending the country’s democracy, saying they were concerned about the implications of the emergency rule declared by President Tinubu in Rivers State.

The communique, which was signed by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, stated that the governors have resolved to take the matter to the Supreme Court for a clear interpretation of the legal provisions regarding the declaration of a State of Emergency in any part of Nigeria.
The governors said, “The Forum firmly stands against any abuse of our constitutional democracy. That is why we have decided to approach the Supreme Court to get a definite and authoritative interpretation of the laws concerning the declaration of a State of Emergency in any state.”
“The Forum restates its solidarity with His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on the ordeal into which his state and people are being plunged by the declaration of a state of emergency.
“And we reiterate our commitment to stand with him till the end,” the governor added.
