We Will Check Excesses of Property Owners and Go After Landlords Harbouring Yahoo Boys — Kogi Govt Vows

The Kogi State Government has announced plans to crack down on property owners who harbour individuals involved in cybercrime, popularly known as Yahoo Boys, as part of efforts to combat crime in the state.

Hon. Abanika Taiye, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, revealed this during a press briefing in Lokoja on Tuesday. The briefing was held ahead of a two-day symposium involving stakeholders in the housing and urban development sector.

According to Taiye, some landlords are sabotaging government efforts to rid the state of criminal activities by renting properties to individuals with questionable sources of income.

Taiye stated,“The Kogi State Government is creating awareness by bringing all the relevant stakeholders on board in the building sector for a robust dialogue in which we will come out with a blueprint that will serve as a guideline for the provision of houses for our people.

“Policy and law is very important in any organization or ministry. When it is made and strictly adhered to, the government will be able to check the excesses of property owners or landlords in the State.
