Many Weapons Used by Terrorists, Bandits Once Belonged to Government – NSA Ribadu

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has revealed that a significant number of weapons in the hands of terrorists and bandits across Nigeria originally belonged to the Federal Government.

Ribadu made this known during an arms destruction exercise organized by the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) on Thursday at the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Abuja.

He attributed the spread of these illicit weapons to corrupt elements within the security agencies, who have facilitated their distribution to non-state actors.

Ribadu condemned such activities and assured that the government is committed to addressing the security challenges posed by the circulation of these arms.
