The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) has said that it will not recognize Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the legitimate president of Nigeria until he clears his name of the allegations of certificate forgery.
The group made this known in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Dr. Llord Ukwu, on Monday.
The statement was a follow-up to a world press conference that NADECO USA held at Chicago City Hall on October 23, 2023, where it demanded justice and transparency on the issue of Tinubu’s alleged forged certificate.
According to the statement, “NADECO USA will not congratulate Tinubu on his victory at the Supreme Court, which upheld his election in the 2023 presidential polls.”
The group said that the issue of Tinubu’s alleged forged certificate was not a trivial matter, as it bordered on national and global security.
The statement also said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Social Security Administration (SSA) in the US were conducting investigations on the matter and that NADECO USA would not rest until the truth was revealed.
The group recalled that the issue was first raised by the late human rights lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN), 24 years ago but was stalled by the immunity clause enjoyed by governors in Nigeria.
It was also noted that the immunity clause could not put the issue to rest then, and it will not put it to rest now, except justice and fairness are done.
NADECO USA, which is committed to deepening democracy and good governance in Nigeria, is an offshoot of NADECO, established by eminent Nigerians such as Pa. Abraham Adesanya, Dan Suleiman, Pa. Alfred Rewane, Ndubiisi Kalu, Ebitu Ukiwe, Edwin Clark, Pa. Ayo Adebanjo, Pa. Adekunle Ajasin, Dr. Beko Kansome Kutrand, and others.
The statement also warned the general public to disregard and dispel any purported statement stating that NADECO has congratulated Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as a lie from the pit of hell.
