Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Wednesday criticized Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for declaring that the party would take over the South West.
Makinde dismissed Ganduje’s statement, saying he was misguided in claiming that Oyo and Osun States were next targets for the APC.
The APC had recently retained Ondo State with Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s victory as governor. Following this, Ganduje expressed confidence that the party would secure all South-West states, emphasizing Oyo and Osun as the next battlegrounds.
In response, Makinde asserted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the people of Oyo and Osun are ready to reject the APC’s advances.

The governor made these remarks while commissioning the dual carriageway connecting Stadium Roundabout, Oke Baale Roundabout, and Ilesa Garage Roundabout in Osogbo, Osun State.
“The people of Osun state must come first, and they have been put first. Two years ago, (2022) they made a political choice. They moved from one political party to the PDP.
“Then someone, I believe, got a bit distracted after the Edo and Ondo elections and said they are coming for Osun and Oyo. People, are you not waiting for them? You will show them.”
