Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia North senatorial zone have expressed confidence that the party is strategically positioned to reclaim power from Governor Alex Otti and the Labour Party in the 2027 general elections.
During a stakeholders’ meeting held in Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area, party leaders from the five council areas of Abia North, Ohafia, Bende, Isuikwuato, Arochukwu, and Umunneochi emphasized the importance of unity among members.
They urged party faithful to set aside personal interests and divisive tendencies, and instead focus on rebuilding the party in preparation for the upcoming polls.

The PDP chairmen from the five local governments affirmed that the party remains strong in their respective areas, noting that members are increasingly united and actively participating in reconciliation efforts aimed at resolving internal grievances.
State PDP Chairman, Elder Amah Abraham, also addressed the gathering, assuring that the party would be deliberate in selecting candidates for the 2027 elections by considering their backgrounds and track records.
He praised the commitment of the zone’s stakeholders and local party leaders, commending their resilience and dedication to the party’s growth despite the challenges faced.
He said;’In 2027, we will be giving party tickets to the choice of the people. When we do this we are sure of victory of the governorship seat and majority seats in the House of Assembly. PDP is still very strong in Abia North and the other 12 LGAs. The saboteurs have left our party. Anybody who sabotages PDP again will bear the consequences. The only saving grace for such person is to leave the party. I have absolute confidence that the PDP will remain the Abia Government House in 2027. The party is well positioned to achieve this.”
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Abia North Zone, Chief Gabriel Elendu, expressed optimism about the party’s future. He emphasized that the PDP could return to its winning ways and asserted that, come 2027, the party would only field credible candidates with the capacity to win elections and uphold the party’s values.

Amid a wave of defections in the state, the member representing Ohafia North State Constituency, Chief Mandela Obasi, reassured party faithful that he remains committed to the PDP.
He pledged to stay the course and support the party until it regains its former strength. Obasi highlighted the resilient spirit of his people, the Abiriba, known as warriors who never retreat in the face of adversity.
As the highest-ranking PDP member from Abia North in the State House of Assembly, he vowed to lead efforts to revive the party’s fortunes.
Similarly, Chief Emmanuel Ndubuisi, who represents Bende South, reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP and urged leaders to act in the best interests of their constituents.
In separate remarks, stakeholders from the Isuikwuato council area — including PDP Assistant National Legal Adviser Okechukwu Osuoha, Hon. Emmanuel Okoronkwo, and Chief Ndubuisi Etugo Ogah — reacted to the recent defection of Hon. Lucky Johnson, the member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency, to the Labour Party.
They insisted that Johnson’s departure has not weakened the PDP’s political structure in the area. On the contrary, they said his defection has strengthened internal support, positioning the PDP in Isuikwuato council for greater success.
