A whistleblower has called out the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) of executing substandard work on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, particularly at the Alaoji section.
According to him, soldiers guarding the Chinese contractors arrested him and deleted videos from his phone after he attempted to expose what he described as a “shabby job.”
According to his post on X from traders at Alaoji Motor Spare Parts Market, the contractors failed to excavate deep enough before sand filling and rushed to roll red mud over black, expired soil.
The whistleblower warned that this practice could lead to early road failure and called on the Federal Government, particularly the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, to intervene immediately.

He further urged Nigerians to speak up against such poor construction practices, stating that if the issue is not addressed now, the country will suffer the consequences in the future.
He emphasized that government oversight is necessary to prevent the misuse of public funds and ensure that quality work is delivered.
The allegations have sparked reactions on social media, with many tagging key figures, including activist Aisha Yesufu, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and Minister Dave Umahi, demanding accountability.
As of now, neither CCECC nor the Federal Ministry of Works has responded to the claims.
