The 2019 Presidential candidate and Former National Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria, (IPAC), Chief Ameh, has slammed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike, for the role he played in rigging the 2023 elections in favour of Bola Ahmed Tinubu which got him the position to have the audacity to challenge Labour Party’s Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing Abuja.
Recall that on Monday, Wike used derogatory words on Kingibe, asking the lawmaker to hug a transformer if she wasn’t satisfied with his performance in office so far.
He also challenged the senator to seek re-election in 2027, predicting that he (Wike) will defeat her.
The minister said this at the flag-off ceremony for the construction of the Mabushi Bus Terminal, which had in attendance the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD.
Reacting to the incident, Chief Ameh seized the opportunity to lambast Wike’s governance style, labelling the event of the flag-off ceremony of the Motor park as a stark example of misplaced priorities in modern governance.
“It is truly disheartening to witness a former governor, now a federal minister, prioritizing the flag-off of a car park in this 21st century,” Ameh stated. “This is the least of the elementary levels of governance.
“Where do people flag off a car park in the 21st century? And he used that opportunity to make derogatory remarks against the city’s senator, to reduce the personality of that person, and people were applauding him.
“Governance is not about insults. He is boasting about tiling roads that have already been tiled. He even collected a loan of 1.2 trillion and 98 billion to complete projects that have been ongoing, and he is talking about a senator who was elected by the people and boasting about how by 2027 the person will not come back again as if he (Wike) will be the person to vote for the people of FCT.
“The FCT is a cosmopolitan city and a metropolitan centre for the federal capital territory. They took their votes into their own hands.
“Wike doesn’t know history; if he did, he would know he was a local government chairman in Rivers State, a governor for eight years, and now a minister, yet he lost Obio/Akpor, his local government, and manipulated{Panel Beat} the results. What makes him think he will win FCT?”
“FCT residents are intelligent voters; they are not people he can intimidate, the way he is intimidating senators,” he added.
