Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has revealed plans to establish a FCT Rapid Response Team aimed at addressing security concerns in Abuja.
In a recent meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Wike outlined the initiative as a collaborative effort involving the Army, Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and Civil Defence.
The primary objective of this initiative is to bolster the city’s capacity to combat crime effectively.
Emphasizing the need for advanced technology, Wike stressed the importance of equipping the rapid response team with state-of-the-art tools to enhance their crime-fighting capabilities in the nation’s capital.
Wike stated, “Every form of technology will be provided to ensure optimal performance.”
He envisioned a comprehensive FCT Rapid Response Team where every necessary technology would be provided to ensure optimal performance.

Responding to the proposal, General Musa affirmed the military’s commitment to supporting the initiative, expressing the intention to provide a standby force to supplement existing security forces during overwhelming situations.
Gen. Musa revealed, “Our aim is to provide a standby force to supplement existing security forces in case of overwhelming situations.”
General Musa further detailed plans to establish a rapid response team equipped with ground troops and air support, including helicopters, ensuring readiness.
