Wizkid Pledges N100m Donation to Kids for Christmas in Late Mother’s Name

Ayo Balogun, known globally as Wizkid, has announced a generous donation of N100 million to children. This philanthropic gesture, set to launch in Surulere, the neighborhood that witnessed Wizkid’s humble beginnings and his journey to stardom, is meant to be in his late mother’s name.

He is the most awarded African artist at the BET Awards, Soul Train Awards, Billboard Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, and MOBO Awards. His collaboration with Beyoncé on “Brown Skin Girl” from The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack earned him a Grammy Award. These achievements highlight his influence and success in the international music industry.

This generous initiative, which is dedicated to the memory of his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away recently, emphasises the singer’s love for her.

Her demise was a significant loss for him, as she had been a formidable cornerstone of strength and an unwavering source of support throughout his career. Her presence at Wizkid’s performances wasn’t just that of a mother; it embodied an emblem of unyielding allegiance to her son’s career.
