Olamide Thomas, who was accused of allegedly threatening Chief Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, and the Inspector General of Police, has been granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
Thomas was granted bail in the sum of N10 million with a surety in like sum in a ruling delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite on Monday, January 6, 2025.
In his ruling, the judge stated that there was no concrete evidence presented by the prosecution to suggest that Thomas would abscond or interfere with the trial if her bail application were granted.
Justice Nwite noted, “I have carefully examined the affidavit evidence of both the defendant and the complainant.”
The judge further ordered that the surety, a resident within the court’s jurisdiction, must provide an affidavit of means along with a clearance certificate for the past three years. Additionally, Thomas and her surety are required to deposit two recent passport photographs with the court’s registrar.
The court has adjourned the matter to February 18, 2025, and ordered that the address provided by the surety must be verified.
