The World Igbo Congress (WIC) has announced that it will inaugurate the Igbo Federal Credit Union Bank during its 2025 convention in Boston, Massachusetts.
According to a statement made available to SaharaReporters, the event is scheduled to hold from August 29 to 31 at the Marriott Hotel in Boston.
Dr. Festus Okere, Chairman of WIC, who signed the statement, revealed that the initiative is designed to transform the fortunes of Igbo-owned businesses in the Diaspora and support economic growth in the homeland.

The bank is inspired by the renowned Igbo apprenticeship model that helped rebuild the economy of the eastern region following the Nigeria-Biafra war.
“This year marks the launch of the Igbo Federal Credit Union Bank, which aims to transform Igbo businesses in the diaspora and contribute to the development of our homeland.
“This initiative presents an opportunity to replicate the Igbo apprenticeship scheme that played a crucial role in revitalising the eastern region’s economy after the civil war. The Federal Credit Union Bank project in the United States is poised to usher in a new era of prosperity,” Okere stated.

The event will feature prominent attendees, including Chief Gaius Chibueze, popularly known as E-Money; the Chairman of Faith Toyota; a representative of the Boston, Massachusetts government; and Chief Valentine Igbobi, Chairman of PCNI and Ochiagha of Ndiigbo in New England 2025.
Okere also noted that Chief Igbobi had authorized full representation from the People’s Club of Nigeria (Boston branch), while the Umuada Igbo group is also expected to attend in large numbers.
The WIC convention is regarded as the premier annual gathering for the Igbo diaspora community and will convene from August 29–31.
Hon. Basil Onwukwe, Vice Chairman of WIC, added that invitations to Nigerian political figures will be restricted to those with proven integrity.
“These individuals will undergo a careful vetting process to ensure they are committed to protecting the lives and properties of the Igbo people,” he said.
