Group Urges Nigerian Youths to Shun Crime and Start Farming in 2025

A civil society organization, the Initiative for Leadership Development, has urged Nigerian youths to shun criminal activities and focus on agriculture as a path to success in 2025.

The organization’s president, Ugochukwu Nnam, shared this advice during an interview in Abuja on Sunday.

Mr. Nnam emphasized that embracing agricultural transformation could strengthen Nigeria’s food security and open doors for robust export opportunities, similar to those achieved by nations like Israel and the Netherlands.

He also expressed concern over the increasing trend of Nigerian youths migrating abroad for low-paying and servile jobs, urging them to consider agriculture as a sustainable alternative for growth and development.

“The mad rush into foreign countries for menial jobs should stop. We just need to look inward and utilise our God-given land through agriculture. Nigeria is a blessed country with vast land and water essential for agricultural productivity, so 2025 is a year to utilise this gift instead of embarking on ungodly ventures,” he said.

The ILDC president praised Bola Tinubu’s efforts in driving economic transformation, urging him to prioritize improvements in food security. He emphasized that collaboration between the government and citizens through agricultural initiatives is the key to eradicating hunger.

Mr. Nnam commended Tinubu’s economic policies, describing them as strategic and designed to deliver long-term benefits for the nation’s development.

“We are not where we are supposed to be, but we are at least making progress,” he said.

Mr. Nnam reaffirmed his confidence in Tinubu’s economic policies and called on Nigerians to rally behind him in support.

The ILDC also commended Tinubu for promoting local government autonomy, aligning with the core principles of federalism.
