Zamfara Auto Crash Claims 12 Lives

Tragedy struck on Wednesday as a fatal auto crash on the Gusau-Funtua Road in Zamfara claimed lives of 12 individuals.

This was confirmed in a statement by the Federal Roads Safety Corps’ sector commandant, Iro Danladi.

The accident, Parallel Facts gathered, involved an 18-seater bus operated by the Zamfara State mass transport company and a truck, resulting in a heart-wrenching collision.

At the time of the accident, the bus was carrying 25 passengers.

At least 12 individuals lost their lives in the collision, while the other 13 passengers sustained injuries. They were promptly admitted to the General Hospital in Tsafe, Zamfara, for medical treatment, the statement further added.

Danladi, attributed the cause of the crash to over-speeding and wrongful overtaking, which ultimately resulted in the devastating head-on collision between the two vehicles.

As a cautionary note, he emphasised on the importance of responsible driving and urged all drivers to avoid over-speeding, wrongful overtaking, and overloading, among other traffic offenses.
