Tinubu, Atiku Mourn APC Chieftain, Cairo Ojougboh Who Died Watching Super Eagles v South Africa Clash

Bola Tinubu expressed profound sorrow on Thursday upon learning of the demise of Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, former Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), who passed away on Wednesday.

Dr. Ojougboh, who previously served as a member of the House of Representatives (2003-2007) and held a prominent role within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, was mourned by Tinubu in a statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity).

Tinubu extended his condolences to the Ojougboh family, as well as to the government and people of Delta State, expressing sympathy over the tragic loss.

In offering prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed, President Tinubu provided solace to Ojougboh’s family, urging them to draw strength and solace from God Almighty and the cherished memories and legacy of the late APC leader.

Ojuogboh, who had been elected to the House of Representatives under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and later assumed the position of acting national deputy chairman under Ali Modu Sheriff, reportedly collapsed while watching Wednesday’s AFCON match between Nigeria and South Africa.

Also, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed his condolences over the passing of Ojougboh.

In a post on his verified X account, Atiku wrote, “The sudden passing of my close friend, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, deeply saddens me. His love for our country was profound. Cairo was a shining example of patriotism; his dedication to Nigeria was unwavering, and his departure is a personal loss that leaves a void in my heart.

“As we mourn, let us remember the passion and zeal for Nigeria that defined his life. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
