In the wake of Nigeria’s triumphant victory over South Africa, securing their place in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has made headlines by expressing his admiration for Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand.

Troost-Ekong, who played a pivotal role in the victory against Bafana Bafana, took to his X account to reveal that Ferdinand is one of the few players for whom he would willingly relinquish his No.5 jersey.

The sentiment was sparked by Ferdinand’s show of support for the Super Eagles, where he posted several Nigerian flags on X and shared an image proudly holding a Super Eagles jersey with the iconic “Ferdinand 5” boldly emblazoned on it.
