Football: Messi Has to Retire for Someone Else to be Regarded as Best — Haaland

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland raised eyebrows by stating that Lionel Messi, currently with Inter Miami, might have to retire for someone else to be considered the best in the world.

Haaland spoke to the media on Tuesday ahead of Manchester City’s Champions League round of 16 second leg tie with FC Copenhagen on Wednesday.

Speaking via Barca Universal, Haaland stated, “Maybe he [Messi] has to retire for someone else to be regarded as the best.”

The Argentina captain, who recently secured the 2023 Balloon d’Or, triumphing over competitors like Haaland himself and Kylian Mbappe, continues to leave an indelible mark on the sport.
