Tragic Loss: Jenifa’s Diary Star Adejumoke Aderounmu dies at 40

Nollywood actress, Adejumoke Aderounmu, popularly known for her role as “Esther” in Funke Akindele’s popular TV series Jenifa’s Diary, is dead.

Aderounmu’s demise was affirmed by her brother, Adeola Aderounmu, in a poignant Instagram post featuring her obituary photo, captioned, “You are in a better place now, my sister.”

Additionally, a friend of the deceased’s cousin, Oluwabanke Funmi, shared on Twitter, “Rest in peace Aderounmu Adejumoke.”

“I waited hours for her cousin to delete her post and say it was a prank or a mistake but…,” she added.

The actress, born on March 26, 1984, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, in a private hospital on Saturday.

The cause of her death was yet to be made public as of the time of filing this report.

However, a funeral service has since been held for Aderounmu Adejumoke at Owu Baptist Church, Totoro area of Abeokuta in Ogun State.

Born and raised in Abeokuta, Aderounmu embarked on her acting journey in her hometown. After completing her education, she pursued acting professionally, quickly making a name for herself in the industry.

Her breakthrough came in 2016 with the role of Esther in “Jenifa’s Diary.” Aderounmu’s portrayal of the spirited and determined character earned her widespread praise from both fans and critics, showcasing her versatility as an actress and securing her a cherished place in viewers’ hearts.
