Nigerian singer Michael Adebayo Olayinka, professionally known as Ruger, has opened up about his departure from his former record label, Jonzing World, citing issues with transparency and lack of support for his career growth.
Ruger, who gained prominence under Jonzing World, expressed gratitude for the platform that launched his career but revealed his decision not to renew his contract stemmed from the label’s failure to adequately promote his brand.
In a series of posts on Thursday on his X handle, Ruger accused his former label boss, D’Prince, of neglecting him and diverting his music earnings towards scouting new talents.
He lamented the lack of transparency regarding the use of his funds and expressed frustration at the stagnant state of his career under Jonzing World.
He stated, “As much as I’m very appreciative of the fact that Jonzing world introduced me to the world, I just couldn’t continue with them because they got too comfortable with the money they were making from me and couldn’t push me further as I wanted to be pushed. Was supposed to renegotiate the contract but I couldn’t imagine 5 years more without action.
