Abuja Residents to Experience Seven-Hour Blackout-TCN Lists Affected Areas

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled power interruption lasting seven hours in certain parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Saturday and Sunday.

Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, disclosed this in a statement released on Friday evening.

According to the statement, the interruption is necessary to facilitate planned preventive maintenance on the 132/33kV 2X100MVA Power Transformers at the Apo Transmission Substation.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public that its maintenance crew will carry out planned preventive maintenance on its 132/33kV 2X100MVA power Transformers in Apo Transmission Substation, Abuja,” the statement read.

The maintenance work is scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.

As a result, there will be a temporary power outage affecting customers in areas such as Garki, Asokoro, Lugbe, Airport Rd, Gudu, Gaduwa, parts of Lokogoma, Apo, Kabusa, Guzape, and Nepa Junction for the duration of the maintenance period.

Mbah assured that power supply would be restored to the affected areas by 4 p.m. on both days.

TCN expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to Abuja electricity consumers and advised them to make necessary arrangements during the maintenance period.
