Bishop, Others Stabbed During Sermon in Church

During a sermon in Sydney, a bishop and several others were stabbed on Monday at ‘Christ the Good Shepherd Church’ in the suburb of Wakeley.

The bishop, identified as Mar Mari Emmanuel by local media and later confirmed by the church, is associated with the Eastern Orthodox denomination.

The injured individuals are believed to be men aged between 20 and 70.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown.

The church said in a statement that a priest, Father Isaac, was also injured. Both were taken to hospital.

“We ask for your prayers at this time,” the church said.

“We also kindly ask anyone at the Church premises to leave in peace,” it added.

The stabbing incident occurred just days after six individuals were killed at a shopping mall in the same city.

There is no indication that the two incidents are connected.
