Boko Haram Strikes Again: Prominent Pastor, Church Treasurer Allegedly Killed in Yobe

In what is believed to be their first significant assault in 2024, the terrorist group Boko Haram is suspected of killing a well-known pastor, Luka Levong, of the Church of Christ in Nations.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, January 5, 2023, in Geidam, Yobe State.

Local residents informed Channels TV that the terrorists initiated their attack around 2 a.m. on Friday, which also resulted in the death of the church’s treasurer, Maina Abdullahi.

The assailants reportedly set several homes and a church ablaze during their raid. The bodies have since been transported to the Specialist Hospital in Geidam.

The Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, has admitted to not having comprehensive details about the event.

He stated, “Geidam is a frontline area in the war against insurgency, and the Nigerian military should be contacted.”

It’s worth noting that Geidam is a focal point in the battle against insurgency, with over 150,000 individuals displaced in the region.

Furthermore, Boko Haram, a militant group based in northeastern Nigeria, has been responsible for an estimated 50,000 deaths and the displacement of more than 2.5 million people since its inception.
