Nigerian music stars Burna Boy and Rema made waves at the 2024 iHeart Radio Music Awards, held live on FOX and hosted by rapper Ludacris.
Burna Boy, known for his Afrobeat sound, secured the title of Best African Music Artist, ending his previous drought at award ceremonies.
Meanwhile, Rema’s collaboration with Selena Gomez on “Calm Down” earned them the prestigious award for Best Collaboration of the Year.
The event also honored global icons, with American pop sensation Beyoncé receiving the iHeart Innovator Award, and the legendary Cher being bestowed with the iHeart Icon Award.
However, it was Taylor Swift who dominated the winners’ circle, clinching an impressive six awards, including Artist of the Year and Pop Artist of the Year.
Burna Boy and Rema’s victories mark a significant milestone for Nigerian music on the international stage, joining the ranks of fellow musicians Wizkid and Tems as iHeart Radio Music Award winners.
