They Were Offering Peanuts—Chippa United Chief Reveals Why Nwabali Wasn’t Sold to Kaizer Chiefs

Chippa United CEO, Siviwe Mpengesi, has disclosed why the club rejected an offer for 28-year-old Stanley Nwabali.

The Nigerian goalkeeper was anticipated to leave the South African Premier Soccer League club this summer, with interest from teams both within and outside the country.

However, last month, the former Enyimba shot-stopper signed a new three-year deal with the Chilli Boys and was appointed as the club’s new captain.

“It was never about the price, there were two teams who were interested, one of them was AmaZulu, but they were offering peanuts,” Mpengesi told KickOff.

“There were talks that we had with Kaizer Chiefs before the end of the season. But then we saw Kaizer Chiefs signing another goalkeeper. For Kaizer Chiefs, we were even gonna give them, and the price was not even that high.” #Chippa
